The Gong Fu fundamentals courses are a series of seminars designed to provide students with the foundational principles of Chinese martial arts. Each course focuses on a different aspect of the fundamental training and gives the student practical skills to build upon. These classes require no prior experience with martial arts and prepare the student for the combat aspects of martial arts training by conditioning the body and training the basics of Gong Fu.
Ba Tang Quan (八 唐 拳) is a classical training set that seamlessly blends Shaolin style fundamental training with internal principles and body mechanics from Ba Gua Zhang and Xing Yi Quan. This form is known as the “Eight China Hands”, referring to its effectiveness in teaching the fundamental principles underlying all the Chinese martial systems. For this reason it is often employed as foundational material in both Xing Yi and Ba Gua.
Ba Tang Quan is a dynamic training form that can be practiced as an empty hand set, a 2 person striking/defending set, and a 2 person throwing set. This makes it an extremely efficient method for training a wide range of pragmatic skills including stances, footwork, coordinated power generation, fluidity and the ability to effectively execute combat applications.
