Five Element Qi Gong with Tom Bisio – Spring 2018

Learn Five Element Qi Gong in Just Five Weeks

Class begins May 10, 2018

Five Element Qi Gong is one of the crown jewels of the Taoist rejuvenation practices. Five Element Qi Gong is complete system for healing and preventing disease in the internal organs and their associated meridians and tissues. This simple and elegant set of exercises activates and harmonizes the internal organs, while clearing internal blockages that are often the underlying cause of fatigue and poor health. Five Element Gong can be performed in 20-25 minutes a day.  The nine exercises are easy to learn and enjoyable to perform, making them easy to integrate into your daily life. The seemingly simple movements have many hidden depths and benefits that reveal themselves over time through practice.

The theory and practice of integrating the Five Elements provides a unique window into the human body’s to maintain balance and inner harmony. Learning to balance and regulate the Five Elements and Five Organs – Lung-Metal, Kidney-Water, Liver-Wood, Heart-Fire and Spleen-Heart – interweaves the body’s diverse systems and regulatory mechanisms into an organic unity, thereby promoting health, a calm, untroubled mind, and a vital spirit.

No prior experience in Nei Gong or Qi Gong is necessary!

2018 Ba Gua Zhang Lao Ba Zhang Seminar Series in NYC

Learn Lao Ba Zhang (Old Eight Palms)
Senior Instructors Thad Wong and Valerie Ghent

Lao Ba Zhang, the Eight Palm Changes of Ba Gua Zhang, is the key that unlocks all of Ba Gua’s many movements, applications, forms and  weapon skills.

The 2018 Lao Ba Zhang seminar series is perfect for anyone who has completed – or is the process of completing – Foundational Ba Gua Training, as well as students in the Intermediate and Advanced levels. Even if you have already learned Lao Ba Zhang, these 4 all-day seminars will take your understanding and training to another level. Learning Lao Ba Zhang is infinite in it’s many levels and details. We welcome practitioners from other styles of Ba Gua interested to learn Lao Ba Zhang as taught by Master Wang Shi Tong.

Lao Ba Zhang (literally “Old Eight Palms”) is one of the classic forms of the internal martial art, Ba Gua Zhang. Lao Ba Zhang combines Ba Gua’s signature circular walking with constant changes of posture and position while striking, throwing and locking.

Each of the Eight Palms in Lao Ba Zhang introduces a different energetic signature, a different footwork pattern and a different set of tactics. In practicing all Eight Changes, one learns to rotate and change to the Eight Directions.

Each technique is explained in detail and practiced individually with partners. Each of the eight moves for both Middle and Upper Seizing and Locking are linked in a sequence or chain of locks. The linked sequences will be practiced both with partners and as solo sequences (short forms) for practice at home without a partner.  Variations of some of the techniques will also be presented.

2018 Ba Gua Staff Weekend Intensive w/ Tom Bisio

2018 Ba Gua Yin Yang Staff

Weekend Intensive w/ Tom Bisio

August 4-5, 2018

The Ba Gua Yin Yang Staff is a powerful weapon that can deliver powerful bludgeoning blows, and quick darting thrusts. The Ba Gua staff is characterized by enveloping, wrapping and rotating movements that end in hidden attacks. The weight and length of the staff require that the practitioner use fluid body actions and seamlessly  linked handwork and footwork  actions in order to generate these actions.

Like many two-handed weapons the staff teaches the practitioner to connect both sides of the body in powerful  unified movements. The pushing, pulling and sliding movements of the staff contain many of the power dynamics used in Ba Gua hand methods, throws and elbow techniques.

In this class participants will learn:

  • Five Key Stationary Staff Exercises that Develop Power, Control and Proper Hand Movement
  • Basic Methods of Walking the Circle with the Ba Gua Yin Yang Staff
  • The Ba Gua Yin Yang Staff Form: Eight “Palm Changes” of the Staff
  • Applications
  • Relationship of the Yin Yang Staff to Ba Gua Hand, Elbow, and Body Methods

Prerequisite: Students must have completed the Foundational Level of Ba Gua Zhang through NYIA classes, seminars of online learning, or learned the equivalent material another instructor or style of Ba Gua Zhang.

Date: August 4-5, 2018

Time: 10-5 pm

Location: Chestnut Ridge, NY

Instructor: Tom Bisio and guest NYIA/IAI Instructors

Fee: $400

New Online Course Launches May 16th! – Six Healing Sounds Qi Gong

Six Healing Sounds Qi Gong
Online Learning Program

Three Day  Sale (15% Off) begins May 16

Strengthen the body, increase vitality, preserve your health

The Six Healing Sounds, one of the Oldest Qi Gong Methods, has been passed down through the centuries by Daoist masters and Chinese physicians. The Healing Sounds are an important part of the tradition of “nourishing life” (Yang Sheng), which is central to Chinese medicine and Daoist practices.

Six Healing Sound Qi Gong harmonizes the Five Elements and Five Organs: Liver-Wood, Heart-Fire, Spleen-Earth, Lungs-Metal and Kidneys-Water. The Sixth Sound acts on the Triple Heater system, which harmonizes the entire body. The shape of the mouth and tone stimulate and vibrate the organs with which they correspond. Daily practice of the sounds and mouth shapes harmonizes organ functioning, while dispelling pathogens and relieving the disharmonies caused by changes in climate and season.

As an added bonus, we include instruction in Five Element Color Meditation, a complimentary qi gong practice, which employs light and inner visualization to promote healing and inner harmony.

Instructors Tom Bisio and Valerie Ghent make these seemingly esoteric practices approachable and easy to learn by showing you the “secrets” that allow you to get the desired results in just 10-15 minutes a day! Tom and Valerie impart valuable tips, imagery and insights from their own practice of the Six Healing Sounds, providing you with a clear and comprehensive approach to learning and mastering these exercises.

Both of these practices:

  • Can be done in 10 -15 minutes a day
  • Require no equipment or previous knowledge
  • Can be done by almost anyone

No prior experience in Qi Gong or Martial Arts is necessary….

Simply follow the clear and concise instructions in the manuals and videos and immediately begin experience the difference these profound exercises can make in your life.

Ba Gua Zhang Advanced Training 2017
with Tom Bisio:

THE 64 HANDS of BA GUA ZHANG – 2 intensive weekends!

The 64 Linear Ba Gua Forms (64 Hands)

The 64 Linear Forms of Liang Style Ba Gua Zhang are said to have been developed by the great Liu De Kuan. These linear forms are combative expressions of Ba Gua’s circular changes and curved steps. They are divided into eight sets of eight movements. Each line of eight movements relates to one of the Palm changes of La Ba Za. The 64 Linear Forms  can be performed individually, or in linked sequences.

Emphasis will be placed on power generation and practical application of the movements. There are many expressions of the 64 Forms. In these classes we will focus on the expression passed down to us by Master Wang Shi Tong. Other expressions will be demonstrated and discussed where appropriate.
