New Online Course Launches May 16th! – Six Healing Sounds Qi Gong

Six Healing Sounds Qi Gong
Online Learning Program

Three Day  Sale (15% Off) begins May 16

Strengthen the body, increase vitality, preserve your health

The Six Healing Sounds, one of the Oldest Qi Gong Methods, has been passed down through the centuries by Daoist masters and Chinese physicians. The Healing Sounds are an important part of the tradition of “nourishing life” (Yang Sheng), which is central to Chinese medicine and Daoist practices.

Six Healing Sound Qi Gong harmonizes the Five Elements and Five Organs: Liver-Wood, Heart-Fire, Spleen-Earth, Lungs-Metal and Kidneys-Water. The Sixth Sound acts on the Triple Heater system, which harmonizes the entire body. The shape of the mouth and tone stimulate and vibrate the organs with which they correspond. Daily practice of the sounds and mouth shapes harmonizes organ functioning, while dispelling pathogens and relieving the disharmonies caused by changes in climate and season.

As an added bonus, we include instruction in Five Element Color Meditation, a complimentary qi gong practice, which employs light and inner visualization to promote healing and inner harmony.

Instructors Tom Bisio and Valerie Ghent make these seemingly esoteric practices approachable and easy to learn by showing you the “secrets” that allow you to get the desired results in just 10-15 minutes a day! Tom and Valerie impart valuable tips, imagery and insights from their own practice of the Six Healing Sounds, providing you with a clear and comprehensive approach to learning and mastering these exercises.

Both of these practices:

  • Can be done in 10 -15 minutes a day
  • Require no equipment or previous knowledge
  • Can be done by almost anyone

No prior experience in Qi Gong or Martial Arts is necessary….

Simply follow the clear and concise instructions in the manuals and videos and immediately begin experience the difference these profound exercises can make in your life.

Here’s What You Get When You Order:

 1. A Welcome Letter introducing the program and outlining the training method, with tips and suggestions for learning.

2. Six Healing Sounds PDFs: Six Healing Sounds (Liu Zi Jue) – 64 pages of written information including detailed explanations and illustrations of the Six Healing Sounds Exercises.

3. Thirteen (13) Videos

4. Healing Sounds Audio Mp3

5. Bonus Five Element Color Meditation PDF & MP3

Advanced Training in Ba Gua Zhang with Tom Bisio in 2017

Ba Gua Zhang Advanced Training 2017
with Tom Bisio:

THE 64 HANDS of BA GUA ZHANG – 2 intensive weekends!

The 64 Linear Ba Gua Forms (64 Hands)

The 64 Linear Forms of Liang Style Ba Gua Zhang are said to have been developed by the great Liu De Kuan. These linear forms are combative expressions of Ba Gua’s circular changes and curved steps. They are divided into eight sets of eight movements. Each line of eight movements relates to one of the Palm changes of La Ba Za. The 64 Linear Forms  can be performed individually, or in linked sequences.

Emphasis will be placed on power generation and practical application of the movements. There are many expressions of the 64 Forms. In these classes we will focus on the expression passed down to us by Master Wang Shi Tong. Other expressions will be demonstrated and discussed where appropriate.

NYIA_Ba_Gua_Zhang_Seminar_2015

I. Ba Gua Foundational Intensive Weekend Training Modules

These three weekends of intensive training develop the foundation of Ba Gua as a martial art and internal energy system. Each day’s class consists of 6 hours training with a one hour break in the middle. Each class begins with 1.5 to two hours of Nei Gong followed by 4 to 4.5 hours of intensive Ba Gua Zhang training

Ba Gua Zhang Foundational Level: Module 1

  1. 28 Foundational Exercises
  2. Circle Walking Nei Gong (Ding Shi Ba Gua Zhang): Part 1
    -10 Basic Posture
    -Stepping and Turning Methods
  3. Nei Gong
    -Standing Meditation 1
    -Qi Cultivation Exercises
    -Walking Exercises 1: Slow Walk

Module 1 focuses on two core practices which create the proper foundation for real ability in Ba Gua Zhang. The 28 Foundational Exercises open and loosen all the joints in the body, while connecting the practitioner with the body’s inherent spiral forces. The 28 Foundational Exercises are the building blocks for advanced movements, and work synergistically with the second core practice Ba Gua Circle Walking Nei Gong (Ding Shi). The postures and stepping patterns of Circle Walking Nei Gong develop Ba Gua’s unique circular footwork, are critical to the development of circular, spiraling power, and contain many hidden self-defense applications.

Ba Gua Zhang Foundational Level: Module 2

  1. Review of key material from Module 1
  2. 12 Standing Postures
  3. Circle Walking Nei Gong (Ding Shi Ba Gua Zhang): Part 2
    -Advanced stepping and turning methods
-Martial applications of Downward Pressing Palm; Moon Embracing Palm and Mountain Pushing Palm
  4. Nei Gong
    -Standing Meditation 2
    -Nine Palace Dao Yin
    -Walking Exercises 2: Crane Step, Phoenix Walk, Koubu/Baibu Walks 1 & 2

Module 2 builds on Module 1. Students review the 28 Foundational Exercises and build on the basic Circle Walking practice by learning advanced footwork patterns and martial applications for three of the palms. Ba Gua’s 12 standing postures will also be explored. The 12 Standing Postures are a method of dynamic stance training that strengthens the entire body and stabilizes the joints. Each posture fully engages with spiral power configurations (wrapping, twisting, drilling, and coiling) which run through the body and produce integrated whole body power.

Ba Gua Zhang Foundational Level: Module 3

  1. Review of key material from Modules 1 and 2
  2. Foundational Partner Exercises: Part 1
  3. Circle Walking Nei Gong (Ding Shi Ba Gua Zhang): Part 3
    -Triangle Stepping
-Martial applications of the Heaven Uplifting Palm; Ball Holding Palm and Spear Holding Palm
  4. Nei Gong
-Circle Walking Nei Gong to open and clear the meridians
San Cai (Three Powers) Ding Shi

In Module 3 students deepen their understanding and practice of Circle Walking Nei Gong through understanding the meridian associations of each posture and by using Circle Walking Nei Gong as a form of walking meditation (San Cai Ding Shi). We will continue to explore martial applications of the Ding Shi postures in conjunction with the Foundational Partner Exercises. The partner exercises train power delivery, striking with different parts of the body, parries and blocks, and leg trapping, while teaching basic martial applications of Ba Gua Principles.

Xing Yi Intensive 2016 with Tom Bisio

Intensive Training in Xing Yi Quan with Tom Bisio
Learn the Shanxi Xing Yi of Master Li Gui Chang

Li Gui Chang Performs Tiger Form

A unique opportunity to learn a rare Xing Yi method based on Daoist principles of self cultivation and internal energy circulation.

Instructor: Tom Bisio, Disciple of Li Gui Chang
Assistant Instructor: Valerie Ghent, Disciple of Song Zhi Yong

Class consists of 30 hours of detailed instruction over five weekends in 2016.

About Master Li Gui Chang & Shanxi Xing Yi:

The Xing Yi Quan of Master Li Gui Chang is a unique expression of the Shanxi branch of Xing Yi. Master Li’s teacher, Dong Xiu Sheng, was a practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine and spent most of his life traveling in Northern China studying martial arts and treating patients. Because of his travels, Dong was able to study and interact with many famous Xing Yi practitioners from both the Heibei and Shanxi branches, including Liu Wen Hua (the son of Liu Qi Lan), Geng Ji Sheng, and Sun Lu Tang. Li Gui Chang’s expression of Xing Yi emphasizes soft flexible hidden power (soft on the outside and hard inside) and overcoming firmness with gentleness, rather then relying on firm strength.

Xing Yi Quan Foundational Program:

This one-year program provides the student with key training methods, forms and internal development that are the essence of Xing Yi Quan as it was taught by the late Master Li Gui Chang. These seminars mirror traditional training in China, where the internal foundation is forged through intensive practice of Nei Gong, Tu Na, Standing (San Ti Shi), and Xing Yi’s Five Fists (Five Elements). Students will be given detailed instructions for intensive practice at home between each of the weekend seminars. Advanced training will be offered in 2017-2018.

Foundational Program:  Class 1

  • Xing Yi Nei Gong: 16 Exercises for Health and Internal Development
  • San Ti Shi (Three Body Posture)

Students will be guided through detailed and intensive practice of San Ti Shi, the fixed standing practice of Xing Yi Quan. Standing in San Ti Shi strengthens and roots the body while activating and concentrating Qi internally. Diligent and correct practice of San Ti Shi is necessary to develop a strong foundation in Xing Yi Quan.

Students learn and practice Xing Yi Nei Gong, a set of 16 exercises that works the whole body from head to toe, and is specifically designed to create the correct alignments and internal dynamics necessary for training in Xing Yi Quan.

Foundational Program: Class 2

  • Review
  • Splitting Fist (Pi Quan): Fixed Step Practice

In Foundational Class 2, students improve their understanding and refine their performance of Xing Yi Nei Gong and San Ti Shi. Students learn Pi Quan (Splitting Fist), the first and most important of the Five Fists (Five Elements). In Xing Yi Quan, Pi Quan is the seminal movement from which all other movements are generated. Pi Quan teaches one to enter, attack and uproot an opponent while simultaneously cycling Qi and Jin (refined power) internally.

Foundational Program: Class 3

  • Review
  • Four Breathing Methods (Tu Na Si Ba) 1 & 2
  • Splitting Fist (Pi Quan): Footwork variations
  • Busting Fist (Beng Quan)

Foundational Class 3 introduces Tu Na Si Ba, the four forms of Nei Gong breathing that form the “secret” internal training of this method of Xing Yi. Tu Na Si Ba gathers Qi internally while strengthening tendons and bones. The principles and power dynamics of Tu Na Si Ba are present in every aspect of Xing Yi, and are a key element in developing the relaxed, yielding and elastic power that characterizes Shanxi Xing Yi Quan. Students continue to explore Pi Quan and learn Beng Quan (Bursting Fist), the second of the Five Elements.

Foundational Program: Class 4

  • Review
  • Four Breathing Methods (Tu Na Si Ba) 3 & 4
  • Drilling Fist (Zuan Quan)

Foundational Class 4 continues the process of recursion and refinement of the techniques and principles taught in classes 1-3. Students learn the third and fourth forms of Tu Na Si Ba and the third of the Five Elements, Zuan Quan (Drilling Fist).

Foundational Program: Class 5

  • Review
  • Cannon Fist (Pao Quan)
  • Crossing Fist (Heng Quan)

In Foundational Class 5, students complete the Five Elements, learning Pao Quan (Cannon Fist) and Heng Quan (Crossing Fist). Students review and further refine San Ti Shi, Pi Quan and Tu Na Si Ba – three practices that are the key to Master Li’s expression of Xing Yi Quan.

Weekly Ba Gua Zhang Classes: Fall 2015

Evening Ba Gua Zhang Classes in NYC
with NYIA Instructor Thad Wong

Thad.Picture
These Ba Gua Zhang classes, taught in 3 month blocks, are designed to guide students towards deep internal change which affects the fundamental way they physically relate to the world.

The teaching method encourages students to combine the weekly classes with building a daily Ba Gua practice. Engaging with this approach steadily improves structural alignments, opens energetic meridians and organically unifies the movement of the body, leading to increased health, vitality and mental clarity.

BEGINNING LEVEL 1
An introduction to Ba Gua Zhang that gives students an opportunity to build a personal practice that will grant them access to the full range of Ba Gua’s benefits. Weekly feedback, corrections and review will accelerate the development of integrated body mechanics, alignments and martial skills. Many students choose to take this block  multiple times to solidify their foundation in the fundamentals of Ba Gua Zhang. The curriculum will cover:

  • Yin Yang Acu-point Patting disperses stagnation in the body, opens the meridians, courses the Qi, and is an important precursor to advanced energetic practices.
  • Standing Meditation integrates the body and mind, connects the qi and breath, refines the body’s neutral alignments and lays the foundation to move harmoniously with grace and power.
  • Joint Rotations regulate the function of all the joints in the body, increasing proprioception and mobility while integrating each individual piece of the body with the whole.
  • Ba Gua Circle Walking unblocks and energizes the meridians, cultivates a powerful, integrated body structure and reprograms walking so that you instinctively move correctly with balance, power and agility.

BEGINNING LEVEL 2
Beginning Level 2  builds on the practices and skills in Beginning Level 1,  adding more in depth training in specific areas of Ba Gua Zhang. Completion of Level 1, or prior training in Ba Gua circle walking, are required in order to take this class. The rotating curriculum at this level correlates with seasonal changes to maximize the training benefits for the mind and body. For the fall this workshop will focus on:

  • Ba Gua Circle Walking will be explored in more depth, refining this central practice of Ba Gua Zhang and adding more variations and ways of changing on the circle.
  • 12 Standing Postures Nei Gong strengthens the entire body for martial functionality while simultaneously forging energetic connections specific to the body patterns employed in Ba Gua Zhang.
  • Linear and Plum Flower Stepping apply the principles of circle walking in more directly martial footwork, cultivating speed, agility, and angular combat stepping.
  • Partnered Parrying Drills teach basic parries which develop fundamental fighting tactics, principles of body positioning and an understanding of lines of power.

Dates: Mondays, September 14th – December 14th, 2015
Time: Level 1 6:00-7:30pm, Level 2 7:30-9:00pm

Tian Gan Heavenly Stem Nei Gong Class In NYC – March/April 2015

Tiangan.Circle

Tian Gan Nei Gong New Class Begins March 4, 2015

Tian Gan Nei Gong is a profound set of sixteen exercises that improve circulation, energize the body and develop refined strength and power. A rare opportunity to learn this unique and powerful Nei Gong method.

These traditional exercises are used by Ba Gua and Xing Yi practitioners to develop torsional power that is connected directly to the spine and legs, forming the basis of the so-called “silk reeling energy.” For this reason Tian Gan exercises can also be useful to practitioners of other martial arts such as Jiu-jitsu, Aikido and Filipino styles, and can help enthusiasts of sports like tennis and golf, which similarly rely on circular, spiral forces.

The Tian Gan Exercises also function as a powerful health preservation practice, because they literally “wring out” the spine, freeing up restrictions and blockages in the spine and its energetic connections to the internal organs and brain.
