Basic Training of the Ba Gua Straight Sword (Ba Gua Jian Ji Ben Gong): Part 2

This is an excerpt from the book Ba Gua Three Harmony SwordBa Gua San He Jian (八卦三 合 剑) by Zhang Quan Liang. Master Zhang is a 3rd generation inheritor of Liang Style Ba Gua Zhang. He studied under the famous Li Zi Ming.

Basic Training of the Ba Gua Jian:
A. Transitional Movements from the Banner-Waving Posture to the Sea-Exploring Posture

1. Strange Boa Turns the Body:

Kou Bu and turn the body to poke with sword flat and palm-up (Fig. 3-4, 5, 6, 7 and 8).




2. Chop Mt. Huashan Powerfully:

Kou Bu and turn the body to chop (Fig. 3-9, 10, 11, 12 and 13).



3.  The Immortal Spreads the Net:

Kou Bu and turn backward to throw out the sword (Fig. 3-14, 15, 16 and 17).



B. Transitional Movements from the Sea-Exploring Posture to the Banner-Waving Posture

1. Escape with the Body and Dissolve Shadow:

Kou Bu and shrink the body to strike backward and upward (Fig. 3-18, 19, 20 and 21).


2. Clouds Blocking and Fog Covering:

The left and right slicing posture (Fig. 3-22, 23, 24, 25 and 26).




3. Cloud Dragon Playing with Water: 

The hooking, hanging, chopping and sweeping postures (Fig. 3-27, 28, 29, 30, 31 and 32).
